THE STREETS

                                  THE STREETS

Hi there hope you have been okay. it  has been awhile since I published my last article , is not that I stopped writing but I needed you guys first read the once  that I had published .all in all  I am happy that you have been reading them and I would like to say thank you and lets continue reading  and sharing  cheers  to you all.

HI once again let’s talk about our streets and what we see, well I hope your streets are that better than mine, let’s start.

I do leave In Dandora, if you do leave in Kenya you would know about it and its environs’ and possibly heard one or two glory of this state on the East-side of Nairobi/Kenya. Now the streets of Dandora aren’t what they use to be, let me take you for a tour back to early 90s then bring you back later on.

I have leaved in dandora for a long time, longest time enough to know all the gangs that operates around here and most of the gang members are my childhood friend and high school friends too, some are friends around the neighborhood. At first when I become familiar with this streets I was still young way back , the  road were not what they are now, the cars on the road were not the some  even the buildings were nothing like today’s  modern world.

Growing up on this side of the city kind of taught me a lot ,  over the years that I have been living here a lot has happened  both good  and bad , but if the good and the bad were to be weighed , then  bad side would have much weight , why am I saying this?. It is not because I hate it around here but it is because I love Dandora and I would be so happy to see it grow and not boring holes for crime but boring holes for investment opportunity and the end to Gang violence around us.

Well  let me take you back , I was  born in the 90s.My first encounter with human being corps I was around  10 years , at first it wasn’t clearer of what was in front of me at that time , I couldn’t understand how  us humans die but still our bodies would still be on earth , all we were told growing up is that when humans die they go back to where they come from and that was in heaven ,only to have  complete info about our soul and not the physical body going back heaven while the body remains to be buried  a few years down the line, picture this, before I knew all the details  just how many bodies have I come across laying on the ground lifeless ranging  from Adults , teenagers , children  all the way to law enforcers  murdered  in different  ways to let  the other gang members know that it was a certain  gang that did the brutal act.

Most of the night we would go sleep with gun shots echo’s  everywhere , me  and my family we were scared most of the nights not knowing if we will live to see another sun rise but we did , thanks to God for his protection .we would wake up to trails of blood at our door step , I even remember  the first time we relocated in phase 2 , we woke up to a disgusting  smell and sight of  rotten eggs  crushed on our door.

I always believed it was a sign  to show that , this  particular area belonged to a certain gang and that there were rules to be followed , since we were new in that neighborhood  we had to pretend  like everything was okay just to lock out trouble ,we were able to do just that for many years and it  has kept us safe  plus knowing people also gave us the upper hand  but what we saw  for the last 17 years I would say it was a good experience for  me  it has really helped me a lot .most people still are scared to take a ride  to Dandora , but why ?. All the disturbing stories the use to be heard about Dandora are no more and if your are living in Kenya please fill free to come on this side of the city you will love its environs.

The scared face of Dandora died with the old Dandora , now all I see Is investments opportunities , the roads are so good and accessibility in and out of Dandora is very good unlike the past ,well all I can say to our Government is well Done for giving  Dandora a beautiful smiley  face once again ,if we switch to security I would say it has been a long run  between the law enforcement  and the bandits  but at last the law enforcers wins big time  thumbs up to our Government .The last  gunshot  I heard? I don’t even remember , that’s because it has been a memory down the lane and who wants to remember bad memories  no one , all we do is burring those kind of memories somewhere they will never be dug up again because if we dig them they will only brings pain and suffering  and no one in Dandora Community wants  that.

A lot of families  in Dandora have tales to tell, some will  break you, some will make you scared of Dandora , some will  change the way you think and some will tear you apart, but it’s  all what one  family member saw ,an opportunity to better his or her life plus that one of his or her family  and to make them proud , to their little understanding  that it would bring pain and destruction to people around them and to their families  too . Sometimes I wished the ferry tales were true I would have just snap my finger to make this misery  back in the day to go away , but since this was only some magical wishing from me I had to wake up to some scene I pray that I will be able to forget forever .

We do have one meager pain in our hearts as Dandora community  , if only God would make it go away, Dandora can be a happier  Estate like forever , nowadays it’s  called the historic site of Dandora,

How many of us in Kenya have seen the dump site up close, aside of those who lived in Dandora and to those living in Dandora. Well a lot has change from the past, now nothing looks like what you left in the past.

Now all we do wake up is a beautiful  sunny  day or a chilly weather that really  makes the Eastside of the city look nice and welcoming to any one new in Dandora, I really  wish this place would grow to a point that we would see people actually  strolling down here to see their families and also to invest ,through this we will be playing a big part in showing the world and the rest of Kenya that Dandora is not a bad  and insecure place after all. I do believe in my community and I want to bring change to my community, soon  I will be starting a campaign  to put dandora on the  map in Kenya and to the rest of the world too, it’s not a bad or a violent campaign instead I believe  it’s  going to be a worthy course and any one is welcome to join, well I guess I will have to share this idea with you guys.

The campaign will be all about “(starting a clothing line store)”. I want the store to be the center of reconciliation and healing point for our community, the clothes will be branded with the name (Dandora) on them to pass the massage across in more positive way, that is my investment ambition in my community, I want people from my community to fill appreciated such that when they are asked where they are from, they will stand tall with their faces up and say (am from Dandora) just how good would that make one feel. our street s has a lot to tell but they never had that opportunity to do so , streets can be home for many people, streets can be cruel and harsh and they can be loving too, but we are never alone in this streets and we never walk alone too. Our street bares the darkest stories and truth in this world, if I may ask? where is your most darkest secrete hidden ?,well don’t say in your heart because you will be lying , if you ask me I would say my secrete are well hidden in the trees , waters ,walls  and the air.

If I can just tell you why am saying this is because in the history of BCs and ADs they existed all four components that I mentioned above , well we all know the best teacher in the universe is the mother nature it can be so loving and it can be cruel , the some way the streets gives and it take away, well for me this is where I end my story  ,but what about you how is your streets like and what are you doing to change what people out there thinks of your streets , well that answer is locked somewhere deep in your heart and mind.
